We will begin our one day trip in Armenia by visiting the Azhdahak Mountain. This is an extinct volcano in Armenia and the highest peak of the Geghama mountains range. It has an elevation of 3,597 metres above sea level. Azhdahak Mountain is a favourite destination of all who love trekking in Armenia. Those who hike to the crater of the mountain will be amazed to find an impressive small lake formed of melting snow.

Hiking Azhdahak, you will discover that the view of Azhdahak Crater Lake is constantly changing depending on a variety of factors. These include the amount of sunlight, the presence of clouds, the time of the day, the season, and the strength and direction of the wind. The water in the lake is so pure and clear that the bottom of the crater is always visible.

The “Climbing Mount Azhdahak” Armenia tour starts early in the morning from your hotel. Travelling by 4×4 vehicles, we will climb to 3000metres above the sea, where the hike to the top of Azhdahak will start. While hiking Azhdahak on the way to the top, we will be admiring the views of the Geghama mountain range.

Once you reach the summit of Azhdahak, the views are even more majestic and include Mount Ararat, the Kotayk valley, Lake Sevan and the whole of the Geghama mountain range These gorgeous sights make the one day trip in Armenia even more worthwhile.

Upon returning to our SUVs, we will drive to the ancient rock carvings and “dragon-stones” of the Geghama Mountains. Most images depict these carvings as men in scenes of hunting and fighting, and astronomical bodies and phenomena including the Sun, the Moon, constellations, the stellar sky, and lightning.
