On this 12 hour tour you will visit Alley of Letters that was built in honor to the 1600th anniversary of the creation of Armenian alphabet. This monument is unique not only in Armenia, but all around the world. Next stop is in fortress Lori (Lori berd) founded in 11th century. There will be a possibility to participate in national food preparation process before the lunch. Next on the rout is Sanahin Monastery (10th century) is one of the largest monastery complexes in Armenia. It is situated not far from Haghpat monastery and together with Haghpat it is listed among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Haghpat monastery is described as a masterpiece of religious architecture and a major center of learning in the Middle Ages. In this monastery the film “The Color of Pomegranate” was made. The last stop before returning to Yerevan is foreseen in famous "Gntunik" bakery-shop.

Your tour starts at 9am from the local operators head office in Yerevan.

The first stop of the trip is is Armenian alphabet monument located in the village of Artashavan. It was erected in 2005 to the 1600 anniversary of creation of the Armenian alphabet by the design of the famous Armenian architect Jim Torosyan.

Your next stop is Lori Berd, a ruined medieval city-fortress located near Lori Berd village in Lori province. Built by David Anhoghin as the capital of the Tashir-Dzoraget kingdom, this impressive 11th-century fort was situated on a northern trade route and a thriving commercial and cultural center in medieval Armenia. The area’s deep canyons made the fortress inaccessible to enemies. Various tools, weapons, jewelry, and vessels made of clay, stone, and glass have been found in the vicinity, indicating that many types of handicrafts and industries were well developed in the region.

Participate in national food preparation master class and later enjoy the lunch which is chosen in advance from 4 different lunch options (own expense).

After lunch continue to the monastery of Sanahin, on the right bank of Debed River. Explore the architectural complex including the St. Astvatsastin (Holy Mother of God) and Allsaviour churches, the seminary, and the book depository. 

Next stop is Haghpat monastery, a significant historical and cultural site in Armenia, built during the reign of King Ashot Bagratuni. Numerous valuable manuscripts and miniature paintings have been produced in the scriptorium of Haghpat for many centuries and in the 18th century the famous Armenian bard Sayat-Nova used to live in the monastery. 

The final stop is famous "Gntunik" bakery-shop where one can buy and taste the variety of national cookies and sweets.

Your tour ends back in central Yerevan.
